Effectiveness of Jarrow Vinpocetine

Vinpocetine is a semisynthetic derivative alkaloid from vincamine, extracted from the periwinkle plant. Some data even suggests that vinpocetine might play a role in the treatment of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

Data were taken from tree controlled clinical trials suggested that vinpocetine might aid older adults suffering from memory impairments, however, a 2003 Cochrane review rendered these results inconclusive.

Although vinpocetine is well tolerated, some individual experienced mild adverse reactions. Side effects linked to the usage of vinpocetine include induced agranulocytosis, a reduction of immune functions which in long terms could lead to apoptosis and it may even play a role in the growth of cancerous cells, intestinal epithelium, and bone marrow.
